I arrived to an nearly empty Wilderness parking lot (one guy was sleeping in his car), so I thought about the 5CP and mission. The temperature was perfect and I rucked 2.5 miles, praying for the students and faculty of Mercer. I meditated on the verse of the day and found that the longer I prayerfully considered it, the more certain words and ideas stood out. Here is the verse of the day:

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5.

I found it interesting that it starts with the word “We” not “I”. It seems that when destroying lofty (wrong) opinions raised against the knowledge of God, I am to do it with others, but who? (On this point I wasn’t clear – are the others, other people – or is it working together in communion with God’s Holy Spirit (and his word). By the end of the Ruck, I was settled that it was probably both. The word “destroy” also stood out, as well as “to obey Christ”. Destroy means – “Put an end to the existence of something by damaging or attacking it” – Destroy is a very aggressive word. And, “to obey Christ” seems to connotate salvation for the one who formerly had this lofty and wrong opinion against God, which is always the goal, for God’s glory!

Upon arrival at the flag, I noticed a familiar vehicle: @Twang had shown up late and met me at the flag for the COT.

We prayed for Twang’s job and our abilities to focus at work. We prayed about Twang’s housing.
