INTRO: 5 Core Principles, Disclaimer, Mission Statement, Credo (today it was modified: Leave no man behind, but leave no gnome where you found him)
WARM-O-RAMA:
YHC was cold, so we got in a few reps before we got started:
SSH 10 IC
Calf Stretch (both legs) OYO
Toe Touch 10 count IC
Daisy Pickers 10 IC
THE THANG:
YHC only put in a 5K today, but we had bigger goals in mind. Grouped up with Rubber and Dill, and that could only lead to trouble. Dill and I had to pick up the 6 of our latest “gnomie” that we found on the way back to the shovel flag. He found a new “gnome sweet gnome” at the home base. This activity followed an attempt to change Duke’s F3 name to “Car Magnet” after encountering no less than 4 cars in our workout. After consulting with our resident lawyer One Call, motion to rename was denied.
“And I’m coming off this dark and windin’ road/
I’m on my way, I’m on my way/
Gnome sweet gnome.” -Motley Crue, maybe
Back story: Dill and I have a coworker that lives on the route and she has several lawn adornments that just invite random runners to manipulate and/or relocate. No gnomes were harmed in the course of our workouts.
We also had a good opportunity to reinforce our self esteem and safety. After a large truck passed us on Rivoli, Dill took the time to yell out from the rear of our group “Slow down, big boy!” Rubber and I took that advice to heart.
